Back to School, Back to Balance

SYSTEMS THAT STICK

  • Streamline your production records early - make sure recipes and serving sizes are locked in to avoid last minute changes

  • Use visual menu boards in kitchens and cafeterias to keep staff and students engaged

MAXIMIZE MEAL PARTICIPATION

Students are getting introduced to key concepts in each subject as the year begins. Spice things up a bit and introduce them to new foods and flavors. Keep them guessing and interested in what you have to offer.

BUILD STAFF MORALE ALONGSIDE MENUS

A motivated team makes all the difference in how your program runs! Recognize perfect attendance, “rockstar trays”, set campus goals with rewards, if met, invest in one small new tool to show the team they matter, or start a “getting to know you” segment for each staff member on your Facebook page.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

Reach out to parents and encourage them to complete an application before they fall off of “grace period”. Prepare for verification month, as well.
